CALL FOR PAPERS
6-8 OCTOBER 2016 – IZMIR
It aims to be one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of Management Information Systems.
Today, the competence of technological innovation can be observed in all industries as an absolute determinant of competitive capacity and the importance of information and communication technology continues to increase. Information and communication technology is permeating almost every aspect of economical and social life; directly affecting business procedures, public management approaches and social life. In recent years, from a company scale to a national level, possessing “smart technology” and being able to use them effectively is becoming increasingly popular.
On the other hand, “Smart Management” solutions become prominent within institutions and organizations in the stages of effective and efficient planning, organization, management, control and coordination with limited resources. By determining the what,when,where, who and how with “Smart Management”, it has become obligatory to handle both technological and managerial aspects and present intelligent solutions. In this context, the main theme of the “3rd National Management Information Systems Conference” has been determined as “Smart Technology – Smart Management”.
We invite you to Izmir to present your work for the uses of smart technology carried out by different institutions/industries/persons on different scales and examples of smart management of executives on different levels. This year, as a first; in addition to oral presentations, we are including posters that enable to relay information via visual aids.
At the “3rd National Management Information Systems Conference” that will be held on the 6-7-8 October 2016 by the Department of Management Information Systems of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences we aim to bring together academics of our universities, researchers and experts from various institutions and organizations to bring forward and discuss the topics and associated sub-topics listed below.
Conference Languages are English and Turkish.
PUBLICATIONS
– All accepted papers will be published full text in the “3rd National Management Information Systems Conference – Proceedings”
– Selected (peer review) articles that have been chosen by the Congress Scientific Comittee will be published as a special issue of the Management Information Systems Journal (http://dergipark.ulakbim.gov.tr/ybs/).
– Conference Topic is: Smart Technology, Smart Management. Selected papers that are related to the Conference Topic will be published edited book called: Smart Technology, Smart Management
BEST PAPER AWARDS
The conference will offer the Best Paper Award to the three best papers. Please read the guidelines below carefully;
– These awards will be given to promote researchers from any country.
– All accepted full papers will automatically be considered for the Best Paper Awards.
– The author(s) with the full text paper accepted must make oral presentation in the congress
– Factors to be considered are by the Award Committee; Technical merit, originality, potential impact on the field, practical significance of the applications, clarity of the written presentation in the papers, and quality of the oral presentation at the conference.
– Best paper awards will be awarded First Place, Second Place and Third place which are evaluated by Awards Committee.
The author of an awarded paper, and co-authors if any, will be entitled to:
– A signed and stamped official award certificate;
– The announcement of their achievement on a special conference webpage;
– A special prize will be given per paper.
Paper selection criteria;
Best Paper awards committee will evaluate papers after review process. Accepted Papers will be reviewed in three stages:
– Paper Reviewer stage and recommendations: When a paper submitted minimum 3 reviewers will evaluate a paper, average of total reviewer scores is considered. Reviewer recommendation for best paper awards is very important.
– Paper Presentation stage, session co-chairs will evaluate each presenter.
– Best paper awards committees’ evaluation stage; all over scores committee will give score.

BEST POSTER AWARDS
The conference will offer the Best Poster Award to the three best posters. Please read the guidelines below carefully;
– These awards will be given to promote researchers from any country.
– All accepted Posters will automatically be considered for the Best Poster Awards.
– The author(s) with the poster accepted must present their paper in the poster session.
– Best Poster awards will be awarded First Place, Second Place and Third place which are evaluated by Awards Committee.
The author of an awarded paper, and co-authors if any, will be entitled to:
-A signed and stamped official award certificate;
-The announcement of their achievement on a special conference webpage;
-A special prize will be given per paper.
Poster awards committee will evaluate posters after review process. Accepted Posters will be reviewed in three stages:
– Prior to the conference: Poster session chairs will familiarize themselves with the poster content and review technical content.
– During the poster session: The session chairs will listen to the poster presenter’s summary.
– After the poster session: Poster session chairs will select the top three to seven posters as finalists for best poster from each session; a star will be placed on these posters to indicate their selection.

IMISC2016 Graduate Consortium Application Procedure

Notification Decision Date: August 15, 2016
The IMISC2016 Gradaute Consortium will take place during the conference (October 6-8, 2016) in Dokuz Eylul University’s Campus of Dokuzcesmeler located in Buca, Izmir. The IMISC2016 Graduate Consortium aims to facilitate a collegial and affirmative environment where graduate students currently working on their thesis in the area of Management Information Systems (MIS) can share their work and receive constructive feedback.
The Graduate Consortium Committee invites nominations to the consortium. Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in a university within MIS area.
The consortium is designed for students who are engaged in developing their thesis research. For application;
- A student must be nominated by his/her respective institution. Self-nominations by students will not be considered
- The Graduate Consortium Nomination Form should be filled by the student’s thesis supervisor
The nomination package should include the followings:
The documents in the nomination package must be e-mailed to postgrad@imisc.net as attachments with the subject of Graduate Consortium. All documents must be in PDF format and must follow the submission format and instructions.
Selection to the IMISC2016 graduate consortium is based on merit. Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the graduate consortium committee. Participants will be selected based on the quality of the proposed research, its contribution to the MIS discipline, the potential contribution the student is likely to make to the consortium, and the potential benefit of the consortium to the student’s research. Participation is limited to 15 students. Nominating a student to the graduate consortium implies that the student will be able to participate effectively in the presentations, discussions, and other activities. Nominating a student to the graduate consortium also implies that the student will register to the conference and that he/she will be able to stay for the entire duration of the event. Notifications of acceptance or otherwise will be sent via e-mail to all applicants by August 15, 2016.
